Psu Face Up Or Down Carpet

I am always asked why did you mount the psu with the fan facing up all the time.
Psu face up or down carpet. Should you install your psu facing up or down. Facing it up inside the case will make it use the hotter air inside the case to cool the psu not a great scenario either really but its better than suffocating the psu facing it down on a carpet. Down seems to be. The carpet will block the airflow to the psu and in worst cases if you have no psu fan filter installed then the small fiber particles from the carpet can get deposited inside your psu and may also clog up your psu fan.
Meant to be facing down to pull cool fresh air over psu components. Now i finally answer when you should and shouldn t face the psu up. If your pc case does not have a vent for the psu s fan then you should install the psu with its fan facing upwards. Really it depends on your setup s ventilation.
Never put your computer case on the carpet when you have a bottom mounted psu fan facing downwards. Can be facing up to aid in drawing heated case air out. The reason for this is so the psu intake fan will suck cool air into the unit from outside the case. Deciding on whether to mount your psu either facing up or down depends entirely on a few factors namely case design airflow with other fans and the power supply unit itself.
In other words your psu s fan will be facing downwards.
