New lps hole too small post by dualmaniac 13 jul 2015 19 31 i would second the idea of careful use of a tapered reamer as less chance causing an off center hole than using a drill bit.

Vinyl hole too small. Get a small sharp knife. Well don t do this if it s way too small. Blow off excess vinyl. If the chopstick or other smooth tapered cylinder doesn t work try a bit of very fine sandpaper wrapping to abrade the excess.

It doesn t take much at all for it to be big enough to fit then. Is the centerhole in some of your vinylrecords too tight. Turn a few times and check. Be gentle with the record.

Whether you do this for the first. Check to see if it fits over spindle if not. If the spindle hole was not big enough when you bought it the chances are that you are the first person to play it meaning that the vinyl surface is mint. Place in hole and twist once or twice round the hole.

I once spent 2 minutes pushing down on a record to get it all the way down. Repeat the process until it fits over the spindle. Don t do too many twists as once the hole is too big you can t go backwards. I have this problem pretty often since thorens turntables have slightly bigger spindle holes than most tables. A small piece of fine sand paper roll it tightly insert into the spindle hole and let it expand. Most of the time this is enough as you need to shave off very little.

Rather than spend money and time on returning the record you can do this. Don t bother with returning it. Listened to the first side went to turn it over it would not come off.
