Vinyl Lacks Bass

Cartridges are similar to microphones headphones and speakers in that one can sound quite different from the next.
Vinyl lacks bass. You begin to notice the subtleties in vinyl but it is not as immediate as cd. The difference in bass between even high quality cartridges can be quite pronounced. And to my ears anyway smokes digital copies. The vinyl fanatic often claims that vinyl is superior to cd because analog recordings are inherently superior to digital recordings.
A little more info from the op would be helpful. The only tt i heard that had the same immediate impact was using a modified decca gold cart on a townsend rock playing a scaratched up piece of vinyl by roxy music. For example on my system streaming over airplay to my receiver the volume is plenty loud at 30 to 35db but i need to turn it up. All i know is that i have albums where the bass is absolutely amazing fast tight and deep.
The lack of bass is because it is a really bad preamp and even worse phono cartridge. Slight lack of resolution. Otoh the vinyl fanatic still gets about the same quality he got in the old days which is at best imperceptibly lower quality than a cd with the same mastering but at the expense of time effort and money. Throw away your preconceptions.
The result is a record player with phenomenal timing and grip as well as the ability to dig prodigious bass from those vinyl grooves.
